The Geekenders are a burlesque collective of rough eighty people in Vancouver , BC . They ’ve been launch the first of their Star Wars parodies , A Nude Hope , off and on since November 2013 . They ’ve also put on an occasional run of the sequels The Empire Strips Back and Reveal of the Jedi .

A Nude Hope is a screaming , tasteful , and oh - so - geeky burlesque show . The Geekenders product intermixture burlesque ’s cheeky roots with goofy melodious theatre to create a show that is adults - only , but is entertaining in its own right for the tweaked dialog and the silly characters . You have n’t seen Star Wars until you ’ve seen a kitten - pack of Storm Troopers sulking over receive their games close down .
While hilarious in its own right , A Nude Hope is at heart a burlesque show , which think the actors show a lot more skin than normal for musical theater . Artistic Director Fairlith Harvey excuse :
I tend to think of the show as ‘ gateway burlesque ’ . It is risqué without being vulgar , and suspect without being crass . We suppose cleverness , storytelling , and actively earning the audience ’s love is more interesting than switch a peeler for duteous applause .
