At Gizmodo Gallery: Free DIY Laser Etching

I ’ve always been fascinated with the idea of laser engrave all my tech geartrain , and it looks like I would in conclusion be able to do it at the Gizmodo Gallery . Thanks toMake ’s Phil Torrone and his optical maser machine , anyone walk in the Gizmodo Gallery would be able-bodied to tattoo their metallic element gadgets with Phil ’s laser , absolutely gratuitous of charge . ( He ’ll be there on the first day we ’re unfastened , December 4th . ) We will have some exemplification uncommitted for multitude to select from but , if you follow these instructions closely , you would be able-bodied to bring your own drawings to apply them with the optical maser .

• First , your illustration must be a vector filing cabinet . Not a bitmap . If you are not sure what this means , do n’t bring it . The machine can only engrave transmitter - based filing cabinet .

• preserve your transmitter illustration in Adobe Illustrator format ( again , no bitmap save deep down . Just vector art ) .

• verify your illustration is adjusted to your ironware physical features . If you are bringing a MacBook , you’re able to usethe guide here .
