These discovery are the result of a two - week expedition by Indonesian and Singaporean scientists with the South Java Deep Sea Biodiversity Expedition ( SJADES 2018 ) , which affect exploring deep urine in the Sunda Strait ( the waterway separating the island of Sumatra and Java in Southeast Asia ) and the Indian Ocean .
