The police I talk to informally estimated the turnout was approximately 4,500 people , but the crowd made up in enthusiasm what they lacked in number compare to other city . Vancouver ’s Climate March had the good soundtrack with march bands , choirs , and even bagpipers mixed in with residential district action at law groups . Considering some of the city ’s best effect are political company fundraisers , it ’s unsurprising our interpretation of Climate March was a fluid dance party .

Vancouver ’s protesters are also unblushing sign - swappers . While we capture portraits of some of our favourites , the sign did n’t necessarily part and end with the same people . The signs also morphed along the parade route : one of our local graffiti creative person carry around a pair of stencils and cans of blue and green spray paint to add a weeping planet to signs that needed more graphical impact .

I do n’t know if any of this will make a departure in creating meaningful changes in policy and society , but it reassures me what a various crossing - segment of the great unwashed clearly care . The march had everyone from newborn to the aptly - named Raging Grannies sick of still protesting this same crap decades later , and First Nations to fresh - make it refugees . I relegate into more kinsperson , friends , and fellow than I thought possible , and spot even more familiar faces in photos that I miss in person .
