Last night ’s amazing Eureka did n’t just render a suitably epic ( and romantic ! ) conclusion to the Warehouse 13 crossover voter – it gave James Callis his substantive purpose yet , force Henry to grapple with his unexpected marriage , and almost unraveled clip itself .

Inlast hebdomad ’s recap , I mentioned two thing that I require to see : James Callis needed more to do as Dr. Grant , and Henry needed to deal with his timeline - created marriage ceremony to a charwoman he does n’t know . Well , I got both in a big way with “ Crossing Over ” , which palpate like it crammed about three episodes ’ worth of storytelling and electric arc progression into just forty - five instant . ( consider Eureka ’s historically sluggish pace with unfolding its larger narratives , I am definitely not complaining . )

It was particularly nice to see Henry finally connect with his wife , even if it was just a little slow - dancing . ( I ’m guessing Grace is quite justifiedly still waiting for a rather more metaphoric case of dance . ) The show has n’t made it too explicit yet , but Henry ’s subplot is an interesting mental testing of whether true love exist . If one version of Henry fell in love with her and conjoin her , should n’t that be good enough for our translation of Henry ? More importantly , if the other Henry rely her so totally that he would splice her , does that intend Henry can trust her with the enigma of the neutered timeline ? These seem like the big questions for these characters , and after this episode I ’ve got a heap more faith that we ’ll be getting answers soon .

But lease ’s lead the strictly Eureka stuff aside for a mo and talk a lilliputian crossover . If there was one thing awry withthe generally starring Warehouse 13 side of the crossover , it was that Fargo really did n’t get to interact with anyone other than Claudia . ( Well , Artie too , but neither were exactly thrilled about spending any sentence together . ) It would have been gracious to see more of how Fargo dealt with Pete and Myka , particularly since they ’re the show ’s genius .

So I was glad to see Claudia actually got scene with a decent percentage of the Eureka cast , in particular with Sheriff Carter . His deadpan watching that Claudia is “ a short diffident though – need to come in out of her shell ” was probably the line of the installment , although there were muckle in contention for that title . I ’d probably give the comfort prize to Fargo ’s queasy remark “ But my head is where my psyche is . ”

It was fun to see Claudia seamlessly integrated into the Eureka gang for the episode , and I was cheerily surprised how innate it all matte . ( Her ease with explaining complex technical clobber to Carter felt specially right . ) This is a formula that could emphatically indorse further crossing over down the line – and Claudia ’s hope that she ’ll see the Fargonator around feels like a moderately good indication that more will be in the works . ( If I may be forgiven a fannish diversion , my vote is for Carter to get the temporary designation of Sheriff of Univille . )

As for the burgeon Romance language between Claudia and Fargo ? The end of the episode was a sad but necessary reminder that both of them have to go back to their own shows , and the fact that they ’re clear perfect for each other is pretty much unmake by the realization that they survive in what are still essentially unlike fictional universes . I guess the most we can hope for is they do n’t totally tangle the crossover under the rug in future episodes . ( I will be seriously take a leak if Claudia go aright back to that useless ironware hunk Todd . ) But in the interim , we ’ll always have the minefield , I judge . Here ’s to Claudia and Fargo . ( I resist to give their romance some dopey portmanteau , though for the record – it ’s obviously Clargo . )

Just like writing style heavyweight Rene Auberjonois almost steal the Warehouse 13 crossover sequence , James Callis well-nigh dominate Claudia ’s visit with his best ( and , not coincidently , most blanket ) performance to date . He ’s been great since his first appearance – although it must be said his American accent has improved infinitely – but this was the first episode where it really seemed like he check into modern day Eureka . His opening singalong to “ Car Wash ” was hilarious , and it ’s a testimonial to Callis ’s Brobdingnagian gift that he made the “ off the hook ” line not completely cringe - inducing .

The episode title “ Crossing Over ” does n’t just denote to Claudia – this was also the episode where Dr. Grant finally queer over from 1947 to 2010 , both metaphorically and , unfortunately for him , literally . His attempt to reconnect with 1947 via his time span let loose the full fury of the past , endanger the entire space - time continuum , but he did n’t flinch when severalize the only solution would keep him in 2010 permanently . ( Carter was less thrilled with that view of the plan . ) He also has to come to terms with all the cultural change , and quit smoking is just the most obvious adjustment . His suave but anachronic avocation of Allison is hard to read in terms of what it intend for the serial publication . Are we headed to another love trilateral with Carter and Allison ? ( Or , considering the close at hand return of another time - lost character , will we presently have a love four-sided on our hand ? )

Then there ’s Carter declaration that he does n’t trust Dr. Grant . He ’s certainly got sound cause – Grant did risk run aground Carter in 1947 , after all . But this seems to go beyond mere resentment , and Carter ’s instincts are rarely , if ever , unseasonable . I ’ve been struggling with Grant ’s trustiness since he was infix , particularly considering James Callis ’s account play … well , you know who . And yet everything we check from Grant in this sequence – and , indeed , since he arrived in 2010 – suggest his heart is in the good place , and his conclusion to send away the time bridgework is a pretty major gesture of skillful faith .

When Eureka has preface characters with ulterior , possibly ominous motive in the past tense , such as Beverly Barlowe and Eva Thorne , the show generally tips its helping hand aright away that they ’re up to something . We ’ve had no such meter reading with Dr. Grant . I officially have no estimate where the show is going with his theatrical role , but as long as Eureka keeps boil out instalment as good as “ Crossing Over ” , I ’m OK with go wherever they desire to take us .
