At least one Facebook app will soon be bathed in the shadowy mantrap that is gloomy mode , that sought after color scheme where the ground is black and my eyes are n’t so angry .

Tucked into an announcement that Messenger is getting a redesign “ over the coming weeks , ” Facebook said its chat app will also get a black modality “ in the near future . ”

Facebook stigmatise its redesign “ Messenger 4 , ” and at first glimpse it looks like it ’ll make for some welcome order to Messenger ’s chaotic layout , which over the age has grown overstuffed , much like the independent Facebook app . Most notably , Facebook is cutting Messenger ’s nine pill down to three , dumping parts of the app you may have never inconvenience oneself to utilize ( like games ) into a “ Discover ” tab that we can all continue to push aside .

While the redesign seems skillful enough , the schmooze app will remain to face and serve like any old New World chat app , which makes the update only so exciting . Facebook say about as much in its post , stating , “ we are n’t changing anything about what you ’ve always loved about Messenger . ” But forfans of coloured modesandhaters of the dreaded notch , it ’ll be prissy to finally launch the app in the middle of the night and not be blind by a lustrous white screen .

We ’ve reached out to Facebook for more details on when its dingy mode will issue forth to Messenger , and if we should expect to see it anywhere else , like on Instagram or Facebook . For now , Facebook just says it ’ll “ be back with more presently . ” Uh , thanks .
