Did you sit through theend credits of the Hawkeye finaleto see what was next for our hero , only to be a slight dismayed by what was show ? You are n’t the only one . The instalment ’s director feel the same way .
End credits sceneshave become a all important part of theMarvel Studios DNA . With each and every film , fans sit down through the citation expecting to see a tease of what ’s to come for the future of the franchise . It ’s a tradition that ’s even go forward into Marvel ’s alive - natural process Disney+ shows , withWandaVision , The Falcon and the Winter Soldier , and Lokiall saving a slight something extra for their various coda . So everyone expect the same for Hawkeye and , well , what we get was rather untraditional .
The end credit of Hawkeye are break by Marvel Studios wish its devotee “ Happy Holidays , ” followed by the entire output of “ Save the City ” from Rogers the Musical , which is glimpse in parts during the show ’s first instalment . Here though we get the full song from beginning to terminate — and the determination to make it the end credit scene left the installment ’s theater director , Rhys Thomas , a bit befuddled .

“ I was not aware , ” Thomastold Colliderwhen involve about the picture . “ It was n’t planned that that was lead to be the means that the show was going to close . I was really a piffling in the dark too . I was curious , like , ‘ Is this expansion slot kick the bucket to be reserved for tee something else up , in the custom that Marvel ’s love for ? ’ I was waiting for what that was going to be . Yeah , they made the decisiveness to put the musical comedy at the destruction there , which candidly , I was slightly conflicted about because like a fan , I ’m wish , ‘ The people , they want to see something , they want to know what ’s come next . Is this going to disappoint ? ’ ”
So Thomas , like sports fan , was expect something a bit more narrative - driven , but he excuse why that was n’t the display case .
“ In all loveliness again , to the squad , it ’s like , ‘ No , no , no , it ’s Christmas , it ’s light . We ’ve got so much blood in this episode , it ’s just fun . It ’s a fun loss at the end , and it ’s a skillful way to send the great unwashed off , ’ ” he said . “ That ’s how that came about and in terms of what it was , that was part of … Obviously , when we shot it for episode one , we shot the entire thing , but apparently in episode one , the focus was Jeremy [ Renner ] and less of the operation . It was [ an ] evolution of that . ”
It ’s important to remark that Marvel credits scenes are n’t always heavy stunning reveals . One of my personal favorite is the final one in Spider - Man : Homecoming , which is just Captain America tantalise you for sitting through the credits . So there ’s certainly precedent for something fun and brash , but with so many questions still unanswered about Kingpin , Clint , Kate , and the relaxation , it was a slightly surprising , but not unwelcome , decision .
maneuver over to Colliderto take more from Thomas about the coda . It ’s a great interview that plunk into how much of the legal action was actually bourgeon in Rockefeller Center , the concealment behind Kingpin , the banter between Kate and Yelena , and more .
