“If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” she continues in the book, adding that the abortionwas “one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”

In February 2021, Timberlake shared a lengthy Instagram postapologizing for his past behaviortowards both Spears andJanet Jackson. “I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism. That same year, Timberlake posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) in support ofSpears' 13-year conservatorship being ended. It wasofficially terminated in November 2021.

“We should all be supporting Britney at this time. Regardless of our past, good and bad, and no matter how long ago it was … what’s happening to her is just not right,” he wrote on X at the time. “No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body. No one should EVER be held against their will … or ever have to ask permission to access everything they’ve worked so hard for.”

The pop star went on to say that most of what she writes about happened 20 years ago and she has “moved on,” adding, “It’s a beautiful clean slate from here."

“This is actually a book I didn’t know needed to be written … although some might be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future !!!” Spears shared.
