Two women accidentally made a major mistake at their brother’s wedding.

“That one time my sister and I decided to wear the same color dress,” Hutcherson captioned her post. “We matched the bridesmaids. FAIL.”

In the clip, the cameraman zooms in on Hutcherson and her sister smiling awkwardly off to the side of the wedding party in emerald green dresses. The camera then pans to five bridesmaids all wearing the same shade of green.

“Had no idea the wedding color was green,” Hutcherson added in an onscreen caption.

Hutcherson tells PEOPLE, “Really, it was an honest mistake.”

“We need to NORMALIZE putting the no-wear colors somewhere for guests to view!!!!” one person commented. “This is always my #1 anxiety!!!”

Hutcherson clarified in a comment that the couple didn’t share any wedding color no-nos. Even after she specifically asked them about it, no dress code details were disclosed. “Unfortunately, they didn’t say anything and we asked. We were MORTIFIED,” she said, before doubling down in another comment, “WE WERE MORTIFIED!!!!”

“We had NO CLUE that the wedding color was green,” Hutcherson tells PEOPLE. “Their invites were black and white and the website was black and white. Their website wasn’t finished either. I think it’s so important to call these types of things out and put your wedding colors down! Think of the person that is so embarrassed and it ruins the evening or it can cause unnecessary drama.”

Hutcherson recalls to PEOPLE that the bridesmaids “didn’t necessarily say anything” to them, “but the looks and overall vibe was off.”

“They were not a fan,” she adds.

Luckily, the bride and groom thought the situation was “hilarious.”

“No one else really said anything,” Hutcherson notes.

Most TikTokers agreed that it would be unfair for wedding guests to judge the ladies considering they checked about the dress code beforehand.

“Unfortunately we didn’t know a single bridesmaid. It was my little brother’s wedding,” Hutcherson commented of why they didn’t ask the bridesmaids about what they were wearing. She added that her brother told them they “could wear whatever” and “weren’t told to stay away from certain colors.”

A large portion of commenters were more concerned about why it was fine for another woman to wear white at the wedding, as seen in the video. Hutcherson clarified to PEOPLE that it was okay because the woman in question was actually her 11-year-old daughter, who was the flower girl.

“She’s one of two flower girls and the bride picked their dresses,” she says.
