Keith’s family revealed in a statement posted onX(formerly Twitter) on Tuesday that the musician had died the previous day.

Keith, who had been married to his wife Tricia Lucus for nearly 40 years, first announced hisstomach cancer diagnosisin June 2022.
“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” he explained in a statement on hisInstagram account. “I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait. -T”

Despite this, Keith continued to play live, with his last shows taking place in December 2023 at Park MGM in Las Vegas
“3 sold out shows in Vegas was a damn good way to end the year,” he posted on Instagram on Dec.28.
On Jan.22 he alsoposted a video of himselftalking about appearing onstage in disguise with a band called the ‘Incognito Bandito’ for a show in New York City.
“Went unannounced to the Fillmore,” revealed Keith. “We just did cover songs. We did some really wacky s—.”
